Book Review – Facebook Cookbook

FacebookGoldman, Jay. Facebook Cookbook. O’Reilly. Oct. 2008. 404p. ISBN 978-0-596-61817-2. pap. $39.99.

From conceptualization to creation, Facebook Cookbook helps readers create a winning application while providing a deep working understanding of the Facebook application platform. Succinct writing in each section never leaves the reader bewildered by the potentially onorous task of writing a Facebook app. In fact, in comparison to some O’Reilly titles, Facebook Cookbook has a most refreshing “anyone can do it” attitude. This text covers the complete gamut of Facebook application design and is appropriate for any level of designer. Note, however, that a working knowledge of CSS, HTML, and some JavaScript will help comprehension. Any libraries with staff interest in Facebook or patrons interested in technical works would do well to purchase. (Includes O’Reilly’s typical 45 day free access to the book online.)
